HORSEBACK RIDING MENDOZA - THE REAL GAUCHO DAY
What is a gaucho?
The Gaucho is the equivalent of the North American “cowboy”. The Gaucho plays a nationalist symbol in Argentina. The Gauchos became much admired and renowned in legends, folklore and literature. The Gauchos remain proud and great horsemen. The gaucho's horse represents most of what he owns in the world.
How will this horseback riding in Mendoza take place?
Route to Potrerillos
We leave Mendoza at 9 a.m. and after 1h30 of driving in the Pre-Andes, we arrive at the ranch. But first we will take the time to stop at the Potrerillos Dam and take some photos of this magical place surrounded by the Andes mountain range.
The ranch, in the middle of nowhere...
Yes, the place is a hidden gem over 8500ft/2600m above sea level, just the animals, the beauty of the wild nature, the gaucho and you.
Sometimes you will also hear the condors flying...
Once at the ranch, you can choose to help our gaucho prepare the horses, or simply relax in nature. It's also the time to learn the authentic Argentinian ritual of Maté and eat delicious homemade sopaipillas (doughnuts).
The horseback riding
After saddling the horses, we begin a 2-hour horseback ride in the Andes. The landscapes are incredible, alternating mountains of all colors, rivers full of clear water from the Andes, valleys and hills.
The horses are ready to guide you whether you are a beginner or experienced rider, this horse riding in Mendoza is open to everyone.
Who is hungry?
At the edge of a stream, we will finally rest to let Daniel prepare the traditional Asado. You are welcome to lend a hand! There are never too many people to light a fire while sipping a Malbec, right?
If the climate permits, a short nap is allowed, the silence and peace of the mountains is an experience in itself.
To buckle the buckle
It's time to return to the ranch. This time the horseback ride takes another path, climbing the neighboring ridges to admire the immensity of the landscapes. On one side is Lake Potrerillos, on the other the majestic glaciers of the Cordon del Plata.
360° of breathtaking wild and raw nature; nothing will leave you indifferent during this ride
We usually need 72 hours minimum anticipation to organize the tour. Available all year long, weather permitting.
